I was hungry, and you fed me....
Every Sunday before the 3rd Monday we make 30 lunches to bring down to the food and care coalition. The first time we ever did this, it felt sacred. Now, it's more like--how fast can we get this over, and um, I think I have homework. I've started to sometimes invite people over to help us. This makes it more social for the children--who are used to our Sunday family lockdown, so any friends over on the sabbath is an unusual treat. It also makes it go faster!
The food and care coalition describes the population the sack lunches it serves, not as "homeless," but as the working poor. They say the lunches are for people to take to work. I've never been there during the time the sack lunches so I have no idea who takes our lunches. But I don't care, as long as they're hungry.
